Centennial Park, 288 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield (514.428.4480)
Shona D’Afrique VIII is the eighth annual outdoor exhibition of Shona sculpture held at Centennial Park, a public park on the shores of Lac St. Louis in Beaconsfield, on the West Island of Montreal. The exhibition is hosted by the City of Beaconsfield through their Cultural Services department. Admission to Shona D’Afrique VIII is free. Donations to projects in Zimbabwe supporting HIV/AIDS orphans will be gratefully accepted. Read more about our fundraising initiatives. The Shona D’Afrique series has become a much anticipated art in the park experience for visitors from all over the West Island, Montreal and beyond. Being in a public park with recreational and picnic facilities makes the exhibition an ideal outing for the family. Over 150 sculptures, created by thirty artists, are displayed under the trees with the lake as the backdrop. Stephen Murenza, ZimArt’s 2012 artist-in-residence, will be present throughout the show, sculpting and talking about his work and that of his fellow artists. If you would like to receive a PDF invitation for the exhibition please email zimart@sympatico.ca To make a preview appointment on July 27 please e-mail zimart@sympatico.ca or call 705.939.6144.
